Mindfulness For Kids

What is mindfulness?

Mindfulness is the practice of gently paying attention to the present moment. For children, it helps calm busy thoughts, support growing brains, ease stress, improve sleep, and build confidence in understanding their feelings.

What does mindfulness look like for kids?

When children practice mindfulness, their bodies begin to relax, their thoughts slow down, and their emotions feel easier to understand. These gentle practices support sleep, reduce stress, and help kids feel more confident in everyday moments.

Breathwork

Breathing techniques help children regulate their nervous systems and return to a place of calm. Slow, guided breathing encourages the body to shift out of stress mode and into a more balanced state, which can support focus, emotional regulation, and restful sleep.

Inside Cozy Corner stories, breathing moments are woven naturally into the narrative so children learn calming tools.

Meditation

Short, gentle meditation moments help children pause, notice their feelings, and build awareness in a way that feels comfortable. These quiet pauses encourage presence and help children practice slowing down in a fast-moving world.

Cozy Corner uses storytelling, visualization, and soft pacing to make mindfulness feel approachable for young listeners.

Affirmations

Positive affirmations introduce supportive language that children begin to internalize over time. Repetition of kind, encouraging phrases can help strengthen self-confidence, emotional resilience, and a sense of belonging.

In Cozy Corner stories, affirmations are integrated into the characters’ journeys so children hear empowering words in a natural and meaningful way.

Through her work with families, classrooms, and private sessions, Matiya focuses on helping children develop emotional awareness, confidence, and a sense of calm through gentle, story-led practices.
